Plant Description:An Australia Native. Also known as the Lantern Banksia or Heath-Leaved Banksia. A large bushy shrub which has been known to around 5 metres, but more often will grows to 2 metres on exposed heathlands and coastal areas. Many narrow linear, mid to bright green leaves, up to 2cm in length makes this Banksia look very bushy. Banksias are a very popular garden plants in Australia because of their large, showy flower heads, and the large amounts of nectar they produce, attract birds to the garden. They may need extra water during dry spells until established. When fertilising, only use a slow-release, low-phosphorus fertilizer. Will respond well to a little pruning to keep shape.

Flower Description:Cylindrical red/maroon colour spikes that hang down from the branches deep within the shrub.

Best Uses: Native garden designs, great container specimen and the flowers are ideal for floral arrangements.
